Richard A. Berkowitz Elected Chairman of the Board of Community Foundation of Broward

Fort Lauderdale, Jan. 11, 2012 – Richard A. Berkowitz, managing director of the accounting and consulting firm Berkowitz Dick Pollack & Brant and chairman of the board of Provenance Wealth Advisors, has been elected chairman of the board of the Community Foundation of Broward.

Berkowitz succeeds Raymond Leightman, president of Northern Trust Bank for Broward County. Berkowitz has served the organization’s finance, audit and education committees and will serve a one-year term as chairman.

“As a board member I’ve seen the Community Foundation make real and lasting improvements in the quality of life of Broward County residents. I’m proud and excited to accept this new challenge,” said Berkowitz.

The Community Foundation of Broward has been connecting philanthropists that care with causes that matter since 1984. During this time it has invested more than $55 million in community solutions.

“The Community Foundation has grown into a place to convene members of the community to identify and solve the most important problems we face,” Berkowitz added.

Berkowitz devotes his time and energy to organizations that make life better for children and underserved communities. He is chair of the state board of Take Stock in Children and a member of the advisory board of the Dolphins Cycling Challenge to benefit the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Miami. He is involved many other civic and professional organizations.
