DEI Mission Statement
Berkowitz Pollack Brant is committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive firm with opportunities for growth and leadership for all.
Narrative
The diversity in our firm gives us strength.
Our firm has always been open and inclusive, but we listened to firm members and learned we could do more. In 2020 we joined companies around the country in recognizing the limits of our current approach and decided it had to change.
We were an early member of CEO Action, a group of executives and firms spurred by employees to be more intentional in diversity and equity activities. Under the guidance of an experienced consultant, we conducted a pulse survey to identify areas for improvement and created a road map for our future efforts.
A committee comprised of firm members and co-chaired by our CEO has lead events and forums, including Courageous Conversations to enlighten and educate colleagues. The group has brought in speakers on a wide range of topics facing marginalized groups.
We changed the way we conducted campus recruiting and are working to become a firm with more transparency, more feedback and more effective work-life balance.
Our efforts included early financial support of The Miami Foundation’s Racial Justice Fund and sponsorship of programs that provide opportunities for differently abled communities and LGBTQ+ populations. We are also an annual sponsor of the YWCA’s Community Justice Challenge, which aims to educate participants about racial injustice and unconscious bias.
We have learned that there is always more we can do, and we are committed to staying focused.
